Any tips for inexpensive yet nice flowers? My bridesmaid dresses are a purple color (real purple-like the crayon!) and i was thinking deep red/magenta, yellow and orange.
Thank you! :)
Inexpensive wedding flowers?
For our son's wedding, I went to the farmers' market and spoke to a flower vendor there. I arranged to go to her acreage the day before the wedding and pick out flowers. Then I went to the supermarket and bought five white cana lilies for the bride's bouquet.
Then my husband's sister and her daughters came over the night before the wedding, and we drank wine and made all of the bouquets, boutenieres and a headpiece for the flower girl. I had purchased a book at a craft store for about $20.00 which explained the process down to the last detail.
The only word of caution I would give you is that you should plan ahead exactly how many flowers you need. When I went to the acreage where the flowers were grown, I went nuts and bought about ten times as many flowers as we needed.
Reply:If you want to go with fresh flowers, look into carnations or mums.
Carnations are great, affordable, year-round flowers and they are rather full so you can use less and still have a nice looking arrangement. They can be dyed or sprayed, and I've seen some that are white with a purple edging to them that are just awesome looking! I do know that they are available in red, white, and pink as well.
Mums will be in season at the time of your wedding and are probably available in deep red, yellow %26amp; orange that you mentioned.

I am not a flower person, but I do at least want bouquets for the ceremony. I'm going with Carnations, because they are only flower I really like (pink carnations).
You can get Carnations in any colour, not just the original pink. And you can get them in multicoloured too! Like the tips can be coloured (Yellow with red tips, etc.). Talk to your florists, the options with carnations are endless.
I'm having my bouquet be pink carnations and my bridesmaids white with pink tips for my black and white wedding.
Good Luck!
Reply:I'm planning my wedding for the same time frame, and I'm not big on flowers either. We are probably going to go with sunflowers and daisies. If you are looking for great colors you can go with Gerber Daisy's they are pretty inexpensive. You also need to look into staying away from a florist. If you can get your flowers at wholesale and then do your centerpieces/bouquets yourself you will save a lot of money.
Good Luck!!

I got all my flowers from there at a great price and they carry some amazing selections in certain flowers and colors.
Try searching by color not type.
BTW I really think your color combo will be beautiful for an OCT wedding.
Reply:Dearie, you've got over a year to GROW your own...Pansies, petunias, lavender, and anything orange will go
