Hoplarchus psittacus? A bit of a challenge but not overly aggressive, grow to about the size of an Oscar (14"+)

Festivums? More familiar to people but not often stocked in stores. Easy going for a cichlid and the males in good condition develop a turquoise sheen.

Some of the eartheaters? Geophagus or Satanoperca sp.

If you want easier to sell offspring, Altum angels.

You will of course need at least one extra grow out tank.

The problem with breeding less common species is finding a market for the young fish.

I have been selectively breeding Geophagus brasiliensis for a few years now and have females as colourful as males but I have to give most of the fry away or destroy eggs to rear only small broods.
Reply:buttercifery not sure spelled right they get a good size have one big red tooth for eatting big snails I have no idea how to breed them. they are black and white striped with a blue tinge on the edges
