All four seedlings have produced little yellow flowers. Shoule I remove these before transplanting?
I have four mini cucumber plants grown from seed. How many should I plant in a half barrel?
They should be fine in there. The yellow flower will soon turn into a cucumber. If you pull the flower off your plant will not be able to produce cucumbers. Your plant should have something to climb or at least some room to roam. They will spread everywhere.
Reply:naw, just leve it the way it is
Reply:Just plant them all. DO NOT remove those yellow flowers. Those are the actual cucumbers! They will be pollinated by bees.
Reply:all four should be ok, watering is very important as the roots cannot look for water. but if they start to look lame later on then don't forget to fertilize.
try putting a wire frame into it so they can climb.

Reply:I'd space them evenly around the barrel. If they are a vining type, you could run them up a teepee structure with 4 bamboo sticks, (or any kind of sticks) stuck into the ground by them and tied at the top with twine. Don't remove the flowers.
